"I skipped in the door thinking, 'I'm going to get this sorted then I can go home'." She added that she was in "such a state" after finding out she had cancer. "The consultant called me in to speak to her and said she was really concerned," Kate said. "She asked if I could put my phone on loud speaker." After her diagnosis, Kate underwent a lumpectomy and a biopsy. She received another blow after doctors discovered her cancer was "much more widespread" than they'd previously thought.
